Now is a great time to visit the parks in Virginia to see the wild flowers blooming in the woods. I recommend a visit to C.M. Crockett Park in Southern Fauquier county. There are a variety of flowers in bloom right now at this beautiful park. The park is located a short distance from Route 28 in Midland, Virginia.
There is a large lake in the park known as Germantown Lake named for the town that was once at this spot.
C.M. Crockett Park is a great place to go for hike in the woods. There are two woodsy areas at this park. The first is beyond the boat rental house on the right-side of the park. This is the area to look for wild flowers. The second woods is a just off the grassland area on the left-hand side of the park. It has few flowers though it is worth hiking out to this spot for the views of the lake and open grassland.
If you have a pair of binoculars, be sure to bring them as you may spot a Bald Eagle, an Osprey or other birds that live at the park, or stopover during migration.
